PRIVACY POLICY
General introduction
This Privacy Policy provides an overview of how I handle any personal data provided to me through this website or as part of my translation business. I take the matter of data protection very seriously and always treat personal data with care.
Use of personal dataI only use and save personal data in order to provide a service (normally translation or review) requested by you or to fulfil any legal requirements that may apply.
Personal data could relate to email addresses, telephone numbers, or further information provided in documents like CVs. In certain cases, I may also process "sensitive data", which includes data concerning ethnic or religious background, health data, or similar. I process data on the legal basis of performing a service for you (fulfilment of an agreement). |
Storage and retention periodsAll data from translation jobs is stored exclusively on password-protected IT equipment. While I am working on your job, it may be stored on Dropbox for a temporary period. Two weeks after completion, it will be moved to an external hard drive.
Contact data for my clients may be stored on my email software and online accounting software. It is not shared with third parties unless permitted by law or with the subject's consent. I will store your personal data for as long as it is required for the legal grounds in question or in accordance with any relevant statutory provisions. |
Your rightsYou are entitled to request information about the personal data that I use and store. You can also contact me if you would like me to delete or correct your data. Please email me at beth@blueskiestranslation.com.

Cookies and social media
This website is hosted by Weebly. Weebly uses cookies for the purposes of operating the website. According to Weebly "All cookies placed by Weebly for visitors of your site are strictly necessary for the operation of the service by Weebly, and based upon our research should be exempt from the EU cookie directive". For more information, please see Weebly's Privacy Policy .
I maintain online presences within social networks in order to communicate with active customers, interested parties, and users and to inform them about my services.
I would like to point out that your user data may be processed outside the European Union when you visit my profiles on those social media platforms. This may pose risks for users because, for example, the enforcement of users' rights could be more difficult. With regard to US providers certified under the Privacy Shield, I would like to point out that they commit to comply with EU data protection standards.
Furthermore, user data is usually processed for market research and advertising purposes. This means that these companies can create profiles based on your browsing behavior and your assumed interests. In turn, these profiles can be used, for example, to place advertisements inside and outside the platforms that presumably correspond to your interests. For these purposes, cookies are usually stored on your computer, in which you browsing behavior and interests are stored. Data can also be stored independently of the devices used by you (especially if you are a member of the respective platforms and are logged in there).
The processing of your personal data is based on my legitimate interests in effective user information and communication with users in accordance with Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f. GDPR. If you are asked by the respective providers for your consent to data processing (i.e. to consent by ticking a checkbox or confirming by clicking a button), the legal basis of the processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a., Art. 7 GDPR.
